Improved efficiency and quality for one of Europe's largest media companies

Organisation Processes Content Planning

Achieving efficiency while maintaining a focus on editorial quality. Kapero played a crucial role in this transformation process.

— Rob Aherne, Director Imagine Programme, Bauer Media

With TV, radio, and some of the world’s largest magazines and news websites in its portfolio, Bauer Media Group is a leading player in several of Europe’s largest markets.

“We first met Kapero in Copenhagen in early spring and were very impressed by the results they’ve achieved for Nordic media companies,” says Rob Aherne, Head of the Imagine Program at Bauer Media Group.
– Even though our markets are about ten times larger, the Nordic markets are interesting to study because they’ve come a long way in terms of digitalization and have been forced to work hard on efficiency and innovation in a radical way.
– Kapero has very interesting and broad experience across TV and radio, newspapers, magazines, and digital media, combined with deep insight into advertisers’ situations.
For us at Kapero, it has been exciting to work with Bauer Media, as they have come much further in Germany than the Nordic media companies when it comes to commercializing their editorial content.

Kapero has carried out a pan-European project for Bauer Media to create more efficient content processes and better collaboration between editorial teams in Bauer Media’s three largest markets: Germany, the United Kingdom, and Poland. The goal was to increase efficiency without compromising editorial quality.
– One thing that caught our attention was that Kapero works in a very data-driven and fact-based way and has access to very interesting comparative data. At the same time, they are very skilled at understanding the quality aspects of editorial operations.
When Kapero became involved, the COVID-19 pandemic had just taken hold, and the project therefore had to be carried out in an entirely new way.
“It has been very interesting to run such a large project remotely across national borders. We’ve had participants from Germany, the UK, and Poland in the same video workshops, and it worked surprisingly well.”
“Together with the operational models that were developed, we’ve identified a very interesting path forward,” Rob concludes.
